Pokemon Analysis

Overview

Nosepass has the potential to be one of the greatest Supports in the game under certain conditions. She raises the Speed and Sp. Atk of all allies while also dishing out defensive buffs to add an extra layer of protection.

Nosepass comes with the very unique move Wide Guard, which nullifies any AoE Damage used by the Enemy, keeping all Allies safe and sound. The downside to this and her team buffs is that Nosepass only has one offensive move. However, players with AoE Teams should keep an eye on enemy Nosepasses for this very reason.

Strengths

Highly Supportive

Nosepass's unique niche is Wide Guard, which has the potential to be one of the strongest utility moves in upcoming content.

The ability to switch in in Co-op Matches and Wide Guard at any time can easily turn the tables. Currently, the Support Role is all about supporting allies, and Nosepass comes with more of that than the typical Support. Nosepass only has one Offensive Move. She can also increase the Move Gauge recovery rate; usually, Rosa, Drake, and Phoebe come to mind when it comes to raising the Move Gauge, but Nosepass doesn't fall short there either.

Nosepass' "Study Buddies!" raises the overall Speed of the team and since Speed affects the Move Gauge's recovery rate, Nosepass should team up with fast Sync Pairs to make them even faster. The resulting Move Gauge recovery has the potential to be even scarier than Rosa & Serperior’s much-vaunted "Time to Energize!".

Weaknesses

Not Very Bulky

While Nosepass comes with a great arsenal of Support Moves, her main flaw is low base stats. Nosepass is one of the least Bulky Pokemon in the game - which is especially bad for Supports.

Nosepass relies on X Defense All to hold her ground in a prolonged battle. Enemies may get the opportunity to use their Sync Move and leave Nosepass defenseless, with her buffs wiped.

Situational

Nosepass' "Wide Guard" is a very situational move. Currently, there is almost never a need to use Wide Guard, which puts Roxanne & Nosepass at a disadvantage when one of their Moves is rendered completely useless. This is why it's recommended to only use Nosepass in Speed Teams. Wide-Guard doesn't block splash damage, just AoE, which means that it does nothing to Sync Moves either.

Lastly, Ancient Power has a small chance of buffing a stat at random. The low chance of this happening makes the move unpredictable and in the majority of cases, it will end up buffing useless stats. Because of this, it's best if Nosepass not bother attacking at all.

Team Synergy

Special Strike Teams

Nosepass prefers Special Strike allies, as "Study Buddies!" raises ally Speed and Sp. Atk.  Nosepass currently has two different play styles- think of them as 'All-Out Attack!' and 'Panic Button!'.

For All-Out Attack, Nosepass will raise the Speed and Sp. Atk of specially offensive Allies to deal tremendous amounts of damage. If teamed up with high Speed Sync Pairs, the recovery rate of the Move Gauge will be so fast that the Special Offense Sync Pair will be able to use move after move to wear down their enemies.

In Panic Button, Nosepass nobly takes the role of an emergency meat shield, ready to switch in in Co-op Matches and prepare Wide Guard to nullify any AoE Damage. When facing danger, hit the button!
