Pokemon Analysis

Overview

Brendan & Treecko is the game’s strongest early game Sync Pair.

Their unique move "No Turning Back!" allows them to immediately increase their offensive capabilities and dish out tons of powerful attacks. When speed is all a Trainer is looking for, they stand out as the favored choice in Pokemon Masters.

Treecko doesn’t have any evolutions (yet?), but hopefully that will change soon. That isn’t to say he’s at a disadvantage: despite being unevolved, Treecko’s actually already on par with other base 5-Star Pokemon.

Strengths

Ambidextrous

Treecko specializes in going all out all day, with a playstyle that's very much about going in guns blazing and walking away from the resulting explosion without ever looking back.

"No Turning Back!" raises both offensive stats by +2 for each Move Gauge slot it consumes, up to 3 total. This means the Move Gauge should ideally be filled to at least 3 bars before using this move (note that the buff cap on this move is +6, and it can't consume more than 3 bars).

This move is especially great for Treecko since he has both Special and Physical Strike Moves, which he can use to adapt to the enemy's weaker defensive stat.

Weaknesses

Poor Accuracy

Treecko’s kit comes with some limitations. The two biggest flaws are Accuracy and buff cost.

Leaf Storm only has 90% Accuracy. At first glance, 90% doesn’t look that bad, especially since equippable gear will soon be added to the game. The fact that gear is even needed to fix his Accuracy is the primary issue, considering that said gear could instead be used to boost his damage output.

High Cost of Living

Treecko needs to spend significant resources to buff himself up and Leaf Storm costs 3 Move Gauge bars. Because of this, he eats up an absurd amount of resources to fuel his fast-burn playstyle.

In a long battle, Treecko might even have to re-apply his buffs, and that cost adds up.

Team Synergy

Critical Teams

Brendan & Treecko are very self-sustainable offensively. One could say that Treecko doesn't need anyone else, but as we discussed in the weaknesses section, Treecko has an expensive kit as the price for that self-sustainability. Rosa & Phoebe are great Teammates to keep the Move Gauge replenished.

Additionally, Phoebe has Dire Hit All, which increases the Critical Hit Rate of all Allies by +1 Stage. Treecko will only need to use his Dire Hit once to maximize his Critical Hit Rate while Phoebe deals with the remaining Critical Hit Rate Buffs.
